On 07.12.22, NASO’s team took part in a round table called “Social enterprises – a bridge for social inclusion of people with disabilities” in Karin dom, Varna, Bulgaria. The event was organized by BASE (Bulgarian Association of Social Entrepreneurs), in collaboration with EASPD (European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities) and NASO. A special guest was Mrs. Maya Doneva (General Secretary of EASPD), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Bulgaria.
During the meeting the main challenges after the pandemic and at the beginning of the energy crisis in the context of social enterprises were discussed. Participants from the social enterprises in Varna were present, who discussed opportunities for development and partnership between NASO and EASPD, with the aim of stimulating the existing entities.
The representatives of the Municipality of Varna and MLSP had the floor to present the plans and decisions of the public institutions on the various social cases. Representatives of end-users – people with disabilities – took part in the discussion, introducing all interested parties to the problems they face when looking for sheltered employment.
The main trends in Europe – innovation and research on social entrepreneurship and employment for people with disabilities were presented by EASPD representatives – Miguel Buitrago and Fabrizio de Angelis. New initiatives and models for implementing social policies across the EU were shared.
Mrs. Maya Doneva gave her assessment of the current progress in the development of the legal framework in Bulgaria, of the expectations and forecasts in the near future, which will invariably be a priority for the next government in the country. Her assistance in the constant increase of publicity for the social cases in Bulgaria in front of the other EU countries is extremely important for all interested parties.
Karin Dom hosts were welcoming and kind. They gave everyone a special tour of the new building, designed and built with love for all users in the social system.
