NASO Membership
NASO members may be Bulgarian and foreign business entities, non-profit legal entities, municipalities, regional and municipal structures that accept the Articles of Association of NASO and assist in achieving its goals and activities. Its main priorities are:
- To unite and represent social service providers in Bulgaria, enhance their capacity and equality, support the job development of specialists working in the social sector;
- To stimulate social services development by improving their quality, commitment and user satisfaction;
- To be a national umbrella organisation in the sector of disabled persons’ organisations (DPOs) and other social groups and a partner of DPOs, the government and municipalities in the social sector;
- To attract a high number of socially responsible employers willing and able to make social commitments to create more jobs, to care about their employees, their city and society as a whole, and to make them empathetic in the pursuit of a better life for all;
- To unite and support municipalities and other structures in their efforts and capacity for creating favourable conditions for social development and job creation, implementing socially engaging activities and services, and achieving a better quality of life in different communities;
To foster an effective partnership at national and international level.

- The National Council for Persons with Disabilities;
- The National Council for Social Inclusion;
- The National Council for Child Protection;
- The CSR Advisory Council;
- The Interdepartmental Working Group on Social Economy;
- The Commission on Interaction with NGOs and Citizens’ Complaints to the Parliament;
- Permanent and temporary working groups tasked with consultations and legislative changes in social policies and services, social economy and entrepreneurship.
NASO is an umbrella organisation representing a broad set of organisations in Bulgaria and some of them consist of and represent other umbrella groups.
Thus, NASO can influence, represent and collaborate with over 2,000 organisations and institutions that are its direct and indirect members on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.

It can activate effective mechanisms for collaboration between public authorities and service providers to develop national quality standards to fund and sustain this process;
Ensure equal treatment of all types of service providers and develop instruments for public-private partnerships and models for public quality control of services;
Build partnership with DPOs to provide training and research on the needs of persons with disabilities and set quality service standards;
Build partnership with public institutions, corporations and employers to carry out joint projects and activities to provide support for persons with disabilities;
Conduct a national campaign aimed at influencing educational and cultural institutes and other public organisations to adopt a positive attitude via the national and local media.
To support social service providers, employers hiring people with disabilities and other social structures and promote their contribution to improving social inclusion and the quality of life of the population;
To improve the conditions for conducting a successful business and promote socially responsible corporations development to increase their contribution to the social development in Bulgaria to come up to the ethical, legal and social expectations society has through a fair pay and insurance policy, training, improving the working conditions for employees and supporting society by providing sponsorship opportunities, making donations, and forging partnerships;
To motivate and stimulate municipalities, local and regional structures and other institutions to shape a socially aware environment and policies for implementing social responsibility initiatives and activities at local and regional level to increase social support, justice, partnership and positive development leading to a better quality of life;
To cooperate with culture and arts-related organisations and institutions in implementing socially significant activities, initiatives and projects cultivating public attitudes to positive and socially responsible behaviour and contributing to social development.

The NASO main goal is to support the capacity development of service providers, services provision involving persons with disabilities and their organisations by stimulating and promoting the development opportunities for persons with disabilities and the significance of their achievements. An important point of the NASO work is the desire to involve local authorities and the corporate sector that design policies and manage resources that can be very useful for the developing sector.
NASO is committed to participating in various national consultative bodies and formulating proposals to state and municipal authorities to set and influence policies and launch new services to develop different types of employment for persons with disabilities and their inclusion in society.
