On January 19 in the building of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy the President of NASO Mr. Georgi Georgiev participated in a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Mr. Georgi Gokov. The agenda of the conversation included current topics related to the support of people with disabilities, the development of social services in the country, employment and others.
The expected development of the restructuring of the Agency for People with Disabilities and the definition of the future functions of the new structure were discussed. Mr. Georgiev presented and presented proposals to NASO for changes and improvements in the legislation related to the support of employers and people with disabilities and for the development and improvement of employment for these people.
In the field of social services, the proposals include finding appropriate solutions for the adequate increase of the standards for financing of social services, which is connected with the sharp increase of the prices of electricity and fuels, as well as finding suitable options for creating better working conditions. and career development of social workers and social service professionals.
The problem of the growing outflow of personnel from the sector and the possibilities for its prevention was touched upon. The proposals also include issues for the development of social entrepreneurship in social services, real support for the work of social enterprises, as well as improving the status and partnership with nationally representative organizations.
Minister Gokov accepted the proposals with interest and understanding, and a subsequent meeting was agreed for more specific work on the issues raised in February.
