NASO has participated in Public Council of the Ministry of Tourism
The first meeting of the Public Council of the Ministry of Tourism was held in Sofia on 27 March 2018 where NASO President Georgi Georgiev took part in his capacity as a regular member. It is a new consultative body to support the ministry in its working under the Tourism Act and other related regulatory documents.
The National Alliance and its partner – the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) have extensive experience in accessible tourism and related issues. By taking part in the new consultative body, NASO will be able to develop its activities in this field providing more opportunities for people with disabilities in all spheres of life, including tourism.
As part of their collaboration in the field NASO and EASPD are currently running an international accessible tourism project (NEWSCAT). One of the project’s objectives is to provide guidance on improving the accessibility of tourist destinations in the participating countries, including in Bulgaria through the National Alliance.
During the meeting a discussion took place about the changes to the ordinance requiring the rating of establishments and proposals were outlined for new amendments and supplements to the Tourism Act.
NASO will keep on informing its members and rely on their expertise on topics concerning accessible tourism in regard to the NASO’s collaboration with the ministry responsible for tourism.
