Commission on Interaction with NGOs and Citizens' Complaints meeting
A regular meeting of the Commission on Interaction with NGOs and Citizens' Complaints to the National Assembly was held on 14 September 2017, which was attended by NGOs, among which NASO, having expressed interest in and been approved of forming a Public Council of the Commission.
The Council’s membership was approved, and Iva Taralezhkova from Citizen Participation Forum was elected Chair. 19 members of the Council were elected, and two more were to be added. The Council’s members have different spheres of competence. NASO competence is in Social Affairs and Labour Market. All aspects of the public sphere in which there is interest and activity on the part of the civil sector are covered.
The Public Council is a form of partnership between the National Assembly and civil society structures in order to enhance transparency in the legislative process and ensure public scrutiny and control over the work of the legislative body.
The Commission also took the Elderly People Bill into consideration.
