EASPD contribution to the European Parliament report on Social Rights
The EASPD positions on social policies have been incorporated in the recent European Parliament resolution on the European Pillar on Social Rights. As per EASPD recommendations the resolution calls for the Skills Guarantee and work environment to be accessible and the important role of in work support is recognised. The inclusion and labour market participation and the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are given a much stronger place in the Pillar, as proposed by EASPD. The resolution from the Parliament calls for the Pillar to be taken into account in EU economic policies. As well as calling for creating a way to incorporate the Pillar’s goals into the European and national policies. It is EASPD that has drawn the attention of European policymakers to the need for mechanisms for implementation and funding of the EU social goals.
