Workshop on “Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centers work with disabled children” in Nesebar
On May 26 and 27 2016 in the Sochi Hall of Nesebar a workshop on „ Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centers work with disabled children”, organized by the municipality of Nesebar as NASO representation and Rehabilitation and Integration Center “Slanchitse, was held. Social workers from different Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centers in the country, including from Varna, Stara Zagora and Yambol attended the workshop.
Ms Radostina Pireva, Head of Social Care and Services Department of Nesebar Municipality and NASO representative and Ms. Elena Varimezova, Director of Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center – Nesebar welcomed the participants and presented the goals of the meeting. Practical experience from the paperwork of different Centers in the country was shared during the first part of the discussion. SRIC- Nesebar presented 3 cases from their practice. Those cases covered cares for children with atypical autism and cerebral palsy with moderate intellectual disability. The workshop was closed with a presentation of services that SRIC-Nesebar provides and site visit. SRIC-Nesebar operates from May 2008 and provides services to children aged 3 to 18 years old with different types and levels of disabilities and to their families in Nesebar. Everyone was interested by the fact that the services is funded completely with local budget, its capacity is 30 children and currently has 31 clients. The team provides a variety of consultative, therapeutic and rehabilitation services aimed to create, maintain and extend the social skills of clients as well as training for independent life of children with disabilities and their families.
Participants gave high assessment to the meeting. It helped exchanging practical experience and information on different methods of support for children with special needs, sharing ideas for overcoming certain challenges in their work and discussing opportunities for future cooperation and achieving efficient results.
