"Stronger Together" for hidden violence in family
On April 21 and 22, 2016 for the sixth consecutive year the Complex for Social Services for Children and Adults in Yambol hosted a meeting from the Stronger Together cycle. National Alliance for Social Responsibility supports the organization of those meetings for third year. The agenda on the first day included a meeting of NASO members from Southeast Bulgaria and a workshop on working documentation, procedures and rules for social services administration and management, while theme of the second day was Hidden violence in the family. Vessela Banova, psychologist, psychoanalyst, a member of BSLP (Bulgarian Society for Lakanian Psychoanalysis), NLS (New Lakanian School) and Child and Space Association was the guest speaker at the thematic panel on April 22. Her presentation included the new challenges and the crisis of the modern family, themes of changing definitions for childhood and adolescence, decreasing role of traditional mediators, mixing reality, virtual world and impossibility, influence of globalized lifestyle and father and family roles as social structures.
Over 80 professionals, working directly with users in social services, as well as managers and directors of social services and structures throughout the country attended the workshop. After Mrs. Banova presentation, the meeting continued with a discussion of practical cases, exchange of experience, group discussion and guidelines for intervention. Each of the participants had the opportunity to define his or her understanding of “hidden violence” and look for effective approaches of its recognition and social work methods in case of such violence.
