NASO and Employment Agency in partnership for practical implementation of supported employment in Bulgaria
On February 11, 2016, a meeting between Valentina Georgieva, Executive Director of the Employment Agency, and Georgi Georgiev, President of National Alliance for Social Responsibility (NASO), took place. The objective was to discuss the means for improving the employability of persons with disabilities on the open labor market. Mr. Georgiev presented the practices implemented by NASO in the last few years, the experience gained as a result of the successful realization of European projects related to employment on the open labor market within the active European partnership and participation in the Board of the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD), and NASO’s opportunities for establishing partnerships in the field of employment across all European states. It was clarified that the partnership between NASO and the Employment Agency was to play a crucial role in terms of starting the practical implementation of supported employment in Bulgaria in 2016. During the meeting, concrete measures which are to be undertaken in order to provide a successful start of the supported employment implementation for providing professional support to persons with disabilities as well as to employers hiring them were talked through. Additionally, the involvement of organizations familiar with that model of employment was discussed as well as practices implemented in other countries. Finally, further meetings on the topic during the year were agreed on.
