REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 15 MAY 2018
On November 10, 2015, in the Municipality of Kyustendil, a meeting between Georgi Georgiev, President of National Alliance for Social Responsibility (NASO), and Petar Paunov, Mayor of the Municipality of Kyustendil, took place. Mr. Georgiev used the opportunity to express his best impressions and congratulate Mr. Paunov for the active social policy of the Municipality of Kyustendil as well as for the good partnership with non-governmental organizations – members of NASO, working in the field of social services, thanks to which a lot of experience in the deinstitutionalization process was made. The very good performance of Mr. Paunov during the Mayor elections was also commented on, which, once again, spoke for the support of the people to his policy and was a guarantee for its continuation and successful implementation in the future.
In this respect, the partnership with NASO was regarded as a means of even greater effectiveness of the social policies and services implemented in the Municipality and the region of Kyustendil in general. During the meeting, a consensus was reached on the strong need of changes and improvements in the social service sector in order to achieve greater effectiveness and impact. In this context, it was further agreed on that the service users themselves should play a leading role in assessing the usefulness of social policies and services, whereby the main criterion for evaluation would be the real change in people’s lives. Mr. Paunov stated that he was supportive of NASO’s activities and that he was willing to further cooperate with the organization in the future. Additionally, mutual support in terms of finding solutions in the social sector on local and national levels was agreed on.
Finally, Mr. Georgiev presented the work of NASO in the last year by underlining the main tasks through which NASO had been aiming at contributing to the work of social service providers as well as of municipalities and to improving the quality of life of the society in general, proving greater support to disadvantaged people. Within the discussion, the main achievements of NASO during the last year, e.g. implemented projects, innovative solutions and active European and national partnerships, were commented on.
